A vision for a Net-Zero Manor Royal
What is Re-Energise Manor Royal?
Re-Energise Manor Royal (REMR) is an independent non-profit Local Energy Community, established to invest in and promote renewable energy projects across the Manor Royal Business District.
Initially, REMR will focus on maximising the deployment of rooftop solar technologies, to help Manor Royal move towards a low carbon and low cost energy community by 2030, with the intent to develop other complementary services in the future.
Who are REMR?
Established by the Manor Royal BID with the help of West Sussex County Council and Crawley Borough Council, REMR is managed by the community it supports - Manor Royal businesses representatives and property owners. This ensures all the benefits of REMR and the projects it delivers are retained and protected for Manor Royal and its community.
REMR will finance the first phase of solar installations via Towns Fund money (a £1 million grant has been secured to aid the creation of REMR through Crawley Borough Council and the Manor Royal BID). Subsequent phases are expected to be funded via a public subscription to share offers to be released by REMR. The intention being that a financially attractive Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) can be offered to each participating business.
Who are BHESCo?
Brighton & Hove Energy Services Co-operative (BHESCo) are the delivery team for the programme. BHESCo are a social enterprise who design, finance, and project manage low-carbon energy projects on behalf of their clients.
