Manor Royal Parking Management Plan

Manor Royal Parking Management Plan

Tackling the perceived transport issues in Manor Royal continues to be seen as critical to our long-term success in sustaining and enhancing the attractiveness of the Business District with problems caused by inconsiderate, rogue and long-stay parking consistently highlighted as frustrations.

A parking permit scheme?

Having explored various options for managing parking on public roads in Manor Royal for use by employees and visitors – as opposed to holidaymakers, commuters and long-stay parking – the idea of a Manor Royal Parking Permit Scheme has been suggested.

This would require for cars to be registered to allow them to park in Manor Royal or else risk being fined. The permits would only be available to Manor Royal companies, with some spaces made available for time-limited parking to allow for some customer parking.

The scheme would be implemented by West Sussex County Council as part of a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) for Manor Royal.

Cost

There would be an annual chargeable cost per permit, similar to schemes in residential areas, which would be used to fund the extra enforcement needed.

When would it come into effect?

Although a lot of work has been done, the scheme cannot come into effect until West Sussex County Council have formally advertised the scheme and gathered feedback from Manor Royal businesses and employees, which the Manor Royal BID will help with to ensure any such scheme meets the needs and helps solve the problem.

The dates of any consultation or formal advertisement will be circulated once they are known.
