New Buses for Gatwick Direct Route 200
Ten brand new ultra low emission buses have entered service around Sussex and Surrey. Four of these have been introduced to the Gatwick Direct 200 service. Known as a StreetLite, these are built by Wrightbus in Ballymena, Northern Ireland. They feature the latest Euro VI Micro-Hybrid technology, emitting up to 98% lower levels of nitrogen oxide (NOx) in comparison to other vehicles.
A Micro-Hybrid bus uses regenerative braking technology to power the vehicle electrics and compressed air systems. As a result of this, it only requires a smaller diesel engine to operate the bus. They also feature stop-start systems to lower fuel usage and emissions when idling at bus stops.
Not only are these buses much friendlier to our environment but they are more comfortable and convenient for passengers with USB charging points at every seat, free Wi-Fi, and an infotainment screen.
